blue flame pan y vino restaurante
C****! Yes I know you are very anal and want to strangle me cuz of the 2 last minute additions to the ‘party’ but I think I will strangle you first for the spectacular (and awfully unpalatable) feature of paella and Latin-American cuisine at Blue Flame ‘Pan y Vino’!!! Thank goodness the usual gang could not turn up, or they’ll probably get to me before I get to you…

Now on to the review proper… I was invited (muchas ‘gracías’ por la invitación… -_-) to this buffet dinner @ $15 @ ‘Pan Y Vino’ (bread and wine) a newly opened restaurant serving Latin-American fare. It’s situated in this quaint-looking yellow cottage along Jln Pinang (which is off the intersection btwn Arab St and Victoria St). It’s not easy to find. According to C****, he expects people to:
“Go take the street directory, photocopy or print out those maps to the restaurant and then use this red marker to draw out your path from the MRT to the restaurant…”
¡Por Diós!
Ok on to the food… I suppose I couldn’t really expect much since I was paying a paltry 15 bux. But still, when you’re attempting to use an event to promote your restaurant, you should not serve your guests this quality of food…
menu
paella de marisco - seafood paella
paella con pollo - chicken paella
this curry puff shaped thingy… i can’t remember the name, filled with rice, bean paste, and potato
nachos con salsa: corn chips with a dip tt’s made up of beef, broad beans, and the mexican type of spicy green chillies
spaghetti with americana sauce or sth like that. i din try it.
bananas fritas - ried plaintains
This about says it all:
“… the paella is like my mother’s fried rice without salt, the spaghetti is like… my brother also can cook, and the bananas fritas, my father can slice too… ”
— xyz
and
“no me gusta la comida aquí, lo mejor es el agua jejeje…” - consensus statement
The comments:
The paella lacked spices… and ingredients… (well cannot expect a lot from $15), the spaghetti, er… I didn’t try so I wouldn’t know, but I didn’t try cuz it did not look appetising to begin with. heh. The bananas were erm…. not cripsy… I’d rather eat the uncooked version, muchas gracías. And as my friend said, the nachos… lao4 hong1 one… hahaha…
Anyway, I would recommend Mediterranean food over Latin American, never could handle the cheese, jalapenos and beans. urgh.
