okay, reunion dinner’s always so pathetic. it’s more like an intra-familial reunion dinner. u know, like my parents, my bro and myself kinda thing, since we hardly eat at the same table.
we have weird dining habits at home.
this yr, we had reunion dinner with my eldest auntie! and we had it at Esmirada Bar and Grill, at the branch at Orchard Hotel. The other branch is at CHIJMES.

more pictures…

Here’s to the toilet, which is just as dark as the rest of the place…

Cool stash of wine! woooh!

FULL HOUSE! must make your bookings!
and the FOOD… it’s gorgeous!
We had this garlic bread… and a lamb couscous, mixed grill and paella española.

I just had to have this picture… what a phallic symbol, rite? Very crunchy.
the paella was as i remember, just like the one at CHIJMES, i hereby proclaim that they’ve got one of the nicest paella i’ve tried in singapore so far. i wonder how it’ll taste like in spain?
Couscous, for those who are not aware, is a food which consists of grains made from semolina, traditionally served under a meat or egetable stew. It is the primary staple food throughout North Africa. The stew was really really goooooood! Even my aunt, who is an extremely fussy eater, loved it!
The mixed grill, pegged at SGD80 is super not worth it! it’s supposed to be a platter for 2, but the portion is really small… it’s more worth your money to get two separate dishes, preferably one of their kebabs. Their kebabs are served pipping hot, still on the skewers, right after they finish grilling it. yum yum!
The music they play there is like stuff from ‘Gypsy Kings’, ‘Los Gitanos’ that type… spanish-gypsy music. The highlight of that night, they played a Greek song, you now those they play at weddings or special events very interative with all the customers and then…. here’s the best part, WE STARTED SMASHING PLATES!!! so cool rite? it felt soooo goood! Apparently it’s a Greek tradition to smash plates at special occasions. yay so fun!
After dinner we adjourned to River Cafe Coffee Garden for well… coffee.. the coffee there sux big time! Not hot enough. and just tastes like the 2-in-1 coffee u get outsdie. :S At least the place had a good ambience and a wonderful singer. ahhhhh i lurve to go to lounges where they have live performances!!!
