I have made a commitment… n u shall bear witness to it! If i’m safe from viva, i’ll go set up a new blog! How about that!
— ahleong/Stanley

Heh, for things like that, it’s not enough just for me to be the witness rite? Must share such joyous news with everyone, HALLELUJAH for the saint is once more ready to preach crap to us!!!

I wonder what his new blog address will be…

will it be: ahleong.blogspot.com? (nah, it’s taken up by some ah-long from m’sia already), perhaps ahleong.blogsome.com?

some other choice blog names:
iamtoosmall.blog…
brand-matters.blog…
makemegrowbigger.blog…
or how bout iamtoosmallmakemegrowbiggerpls.blog…
saintstan.blog…
iamsonice.blog…
longwinded-leong.blog…
any suggestions from you l0t out there?

then again, maybe he might be so pissed off with my entry that he’ll say ‘wat rubbish, u stupid woman! i said i will set up a blog, but i didn’t say i will give you the address ok!’

well, if that’s the case, then we’ll leave him to his grouchy moodswings, pregnancy-like cravings, voyeuristic tendencies and sadomasochistic fantasies… and tune in to my blog instead ok? heheh…

Films galore 2:12 am

Rating: ****
In French with English subtitles.
Originally wanted to catch it on the big screen but I guess got too caught up with schoolwork… A waste indeed, to view it at home instead of the cinema…

‘Les Choristes’ is a heartbreakingly beautiful story woven from the most unlikely material - the ‘Fond de l’Etang’, something like a boy’s home, for those who are orphans, or have been abandoned by their parents - the so-called ‘hopeless cases’. A failed musician, Clément Mathieu (Gérald Jugnot), arrives, aghast at the cruel, militaristic form of discipline of the principal, Rachin (François Berléand). Discovering that despite all their gruffiness and mischief, the children enjoy music, and uses music to help them discover themselves. more…

What i loved most about the film, of course, was the music! Wow, those kids can really sing! It didn’t matter that it all sounded so foreign to me, maybe for a few words… anyway, sometimes it’s not necessary to understand a language in order to enjoy the music. And this film precisely brought across this point! I hope they’re selling the soundtrack, i might wanna get it. The voice of this kid:

choristes

Pierre Morhange’s (centre, played by Jean-Baptiste Maunier) voice is so lovely, it makes you tear to listen to him sing. I’m not sure whether he really sang, or it was dubbed… But it was sooooooooooooo heartbreakingly beautiful!

The beauty of this film lies in the message that there is something good in everyone of us, and it takes a special person to recognise our talent and bring it to our attention. This film makes me want to be such a person. I don’t like the feeling of picking out others’ faults, something that all of us do subconsciously, I want to see the good and precious in everyone as well, AND to concentrate on that. Makes life all the more beautiful doesn’t it? At this juncture, xyz comes to my mind. XYZ is a person that many do not like, and I’ve always been wondering what her bf sees in her, and what her good friends like about her. Been puzzling over it for some months, but still can’t see why… hmmm… hope someone can enlighten me. hah…

I would highly recommend all who enjoy music, good cinematography with a dash of humour to watch this film.
