The pensieve - daily musingsApril 13, 2006 10:26 pm

i’m so tired. my back has been aching for the past few days and i’m valiantly keeping it ramrod straight - must maintain good posture so that it doesn’t worsen. my medial foot arches are at high risk of becoming obliterated - i definitely need to buy another pair of shoes… i’ve been putting it off too long already. okie, saturday go buy shoes! yay!

think my face has been quite ‘black’ these few days and maybe i’m a bit shaper with my words. pity my two grp mates… have to suffer my swinging moods and ‘black face’…

can’t even sleep properly these days. not very sure where the added stress is coming from. i wake up at 20min intervals from 4am all the way to 645am… horrible!

shall do a really good rest cure tomorrow… saturday i have to start art class again. been too lazy for too long… laoshi probably thought i’ve given up by now!

***empty vessel makes the most noise***

apparently my previous account wasn’t too accurate, so i’m gng to rewrite it here. ahleong claims that an accurate account will make the incident very funny!

once upon a time, at CGH, a doctor decided to use ahleong (with his beautifully prominent veins) as a role model for demonstration on how to take blood…

doc: (chooses this juicy-looking, fat vein in his wrist) see, it should be like this, bouncy…
needle goes in… followed by a pregnant pause
doc: no blood? hmmm…. it’s empty!
ahleong: yea, it’s an empty vessel! empty vessel makes the most noise! (and he proceeds to wave his slender wrist in the air, while miming a talking mouth with his right hand, as well as making unintelligible noises)

it doesn’t sound vaguely humorous here :( i think you all got to demand for an encore when you next see him and his empty vessel. -_-

***if my tutor had a blog***

If my tutor had a blog, it might have a one-liner that reads like this…

overheard (male medical student)
“Erythromycin is really good! My pimples have all cleared up!”

***i wish i were a vampire named Vlad-a***

after being thrown into the midst of ah-mas and ah-pehs, there is a dire need of being able to jab into the vein/artery rite away!!! especially if your team expects you to do most of the procedures… so muz finish asap. :S so far i’ve jabbed left, right and scrunched up veins… i never knew that old pple’s veins can scrunch up so much… quite fantastic! plus most of their forearms veins are either so thin, or got so many hematomas or bruises from previous blood takings (or valiant attempts to do so), or else they’re thrombosed already… no more blood…

hehe if i were a vampire, i sure can take blood easily haha… but then of course no samples would be available. heh.

***neurotic neurologists***

today i attended a neuro tutorial… it’s more like a meeting where various ‘neurotics’ present highly interesting and possibly rare cases… like today, there was a case of subacute combined degeneration, another one with a swollen brainstem, a ?Creutz-Jakob disease, a ?vasculitis of cranial arteries and a some kind of tumour some where in the cord resulting in clawed toes… it was more for entertainment than for actual learning, especially for us students. but it was highly interesting observing the various neurologists. they seem to instantly recognise my grp for what we were - spies… or perhaps invasion from the GM people. haha… one was extremely interested in ahleong. kept smiling at him benignly. *shudders* another one kept going psst psst at me cuz he wanted this pda that the guy next to me was playing with… somehow i think i saw quite a few toys being passed around. i think these neurologists remind me to playful but highly brainy kids, who take real enjoyment in their work! they’re also quite screw-lose. haha… their dry humour and wit is akin to that of the GS pple, but they’re much much nicer (and neater). and yet they are not zombified, unlike the GM pple. :D interesting folks!

***took my breath away***

i think i shared the lift with Dr R today… haven’t seen him for around two years already, but i think it’s him! i should recognise those mesmerising eyes… waaaa…. took my breath away. (ok, i was already a bit SOB cuz i ran all the way to the hosp…)
