This time round i could truly enjoy my A&E posting. hah, remember the last time round? I was immobilised by a cast?

Now i’m free to roam and fly from cubicle to cubicle to bleed everyone dry or to plug all those juicy bouncy veins and of cuz ham tam all the ABGs, wateva other procedures I’d fancy. Unfortunately from next week onwards, we’re going to have like 20 year threes joining us!!! *HORRORS*

you know why i like A&E so much? it’s cuz you get to see a wide variety of conditions (where at least 50% are SOBs and CPs heh), get to do all kinds of procedures, from giving painkillers, applying traction, needle thoracostomy and blah. It’s like medicine, surgery, ENT, ortho, paeds all rolled into one!

had our first 4pm - 12midnight run on monday… it was like hiroshima had exploded all over again! the most intensive game of ‘musical chairs’ was played in ‘times’ square… (or watever was the pseudoname for that square place where u can pack up to 12 patients!) i lost myself in the ultimate bliss of plug-setting, defraying complaints from overly anxious relatives and unreasonable patients, and time just FLEW by… a bit scary really, imagine spending what you felt was only 2 yrs working in A&E, then one day, coming home, you look into the mirror and realise that 20 years had gone by?!?!?!

after that long run, instead of going ‘home sweet home’, i decided to rough it out a bit at my auntie’s antique, dusty, dreary house… reminds you of those walk up apartments in hongkong serials… those haunted ones. well, of course it didn’t help that my aunt offered to let me sleep on the only bed left in the house. ie. my ah-ma’s deathbed… it also did not help that it was alongside a big big mirror and the other side faced the door which opened into the endless, murky depths of the eerie hall. :S

to top it all, there’s no hot water. ouch ouch ouch!

nevertheless, bets were passed between various aunties and cousins plus my mother who all wondered whether i would survive - the haunting. sheesh. the house is supposedly not just haunted by remnants of my grandma’s spirit but also by many other passer-by spirits… omigod. yucks.

so here are the odd experiences i’ve had:
1. when i was trying to sleep, i felt really giddy once i shut my eyes… it was like i was spinning inside. the bed felt like it was periodically going up and down, as if someone was sleeping next to me…

my mother: aiyoooo! so scary ah! see la, no one dares to sleep there, not even your cousin who is like not scared of anything… it’s haunted lor… they say can see this beautiful woman in the mirror one… and then got a lot of er… spirits passing by…. ‘dirty’ place la…

me: WHY U TELL ME ONLY NOW???

my mother: aiyah, we thought u very scientific, should be no problem la… very brave wat… plus, we were hoping ah-ma tuo1 meng4 to you lor…

me: *so cheated* fumesss*

me: oh, no wonder before i fell asleep i heard so many pple talking to each other and to me in hokkien loudly lah!

my mother: you did???!!! wa, don’t tell da4yi2 hor, or she’ll move to camp with your uncle’s family liao!

well, on the bright side, now no one else will ever fight with me if i wanna go there to stay (actually, no one even wants to think abt it…) haha… on the down side, it’s so sian there, if i’m ever going to live there during my HO posting, i will first clear out all the barang barang and stone pillows, antique bed in my ah-gong’s room, repaint it, install a window unit air con, hmmm get new curtains, consider repaving the floor (haha), and change the lights before i go blind as a bat!

heheheh…

anyway, woke up at an unearthly 630 am… thankfully i din get woken up at 5am with my aunt’s battle with the wok… or her taichi sounds… i think i hardly slept last night…

finally, reported for duty at 8am again! :D cool…

i ammmmm sooooo hyyyyppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
