we all know (or at least the people who are familiar with depression know) that:

people who are depressed have tunnel vision.

over here, we see how a lot of people are actually quite of a one-track mind with regards to life, and even with regards to education. Despite big G’s attempt to inculcate creativity and individualism, it’s not even helping. Take for example,

A friend was giving me an example of how they had to be creative when teaching school children. For example, in the past, we would just be expected to KNOW and accept as a fact that:

1 - ( - 1) = 1 + 1 = 2.

Now they’re supposed to give a ‘creative’ scenario:

Let’s say you have one foreign talent entering your country (that represents the ‘1′), then you have one criminal leaving your country (that represents the - (-1)), the overall result is a positive effect on your country rite? ie. ‘2′.

OMG. I think going to this extreme is pathetic. Really, laughable even.

Therefore, I can safely comment that many of us indeed, suffer from ‘tunnel vision’.

Therefore, my logical reasoning…

A. We have tunnel vision.
B. Depressed people have tunnel vision.

Therefore, we are a depressed people.

good bye lenin

A proud socialist single mother of two fell into a coma after a heart attack. In the 8 months where she remained comatose, the Berlin Wall fell, and as the two halves merged into one unified Germany, came the fall of socialism in the face of western capitalism. In an attempt to pre-empt a second heart attack that might finish off her already weak heart, Alex Kerner, her son attempts to re-create the socialist environment back in their apartment. From changing all their furniture, putting on the faded old clothes they used to wear, and filling old bottles of pickles and coffee powder with new imported versions, up to the point of enlisting his colleague to re-create fake news. It is a lie leading to more lies, ending up as a scam which involves all his neighbours as well. Eventually, Alex realises that he cannot keep up with such a fatal ruse and decides to let socialism die, but sends it off with style.

I believe the dominant theme here is ‘a dignified death’. Haiya, suddenly lost the desire to talk about death and dying, we are all sad enough as it is, no need to worsen people’s day. so I shall call it a day and end here. Do watch the film! The soundtrack is good too!

Shall sign off with a quote:

If you’ve got nothing good or constructive to say, then don’t say anything.
