Funny how everyone thinks that I dislike kids just because I find paeds intolerable.

I just can’t bring myself to make coo-ing sounds to them, or make funny faces or speak ‘baby talk’. I just can’t. It just seems so disrespectful to the kid. I mean, a kid’s a person too right… Imagine the kid thinking: ‘wa lao, who are you, why are you speaking in such funny language to me?’

Maybe this weird view is just a side effect of a movie I watched once, where the kids had their own way of communication (coos and other sounds) and when adults tried to imitate those sounds, they were really making a fool of themselves… and maybe that’s why the babies were giggling. Haha…

Anyway, I think the main thing I dislike in paeds is dealing with the parents, especially someone like this:

Person: I think there’s some ear wax in your child’s ear. Can put some waxsol and it’ll clear out in a few days…

Dad (of the kid): No need la, I shout loud enough and the ear wax will fall out by itself!

And one more thing, I absolutely HATE baby talk!

Next time when I become a mother… got 3 golden rules:
No baby talk.
Let sleeping babies lie.
Don’t make a big fuss and loud noises when toddlers fall.

Hey STORM, I’m sure you understand this too, not the part about you becoming a mother though! heh. I bet you’re shuddering now!
