The Devil Wears Prada - directed by David Frankel
Rating: **.5/*****

Meryl Streep is very cool and sharply dressed as Miranda Priestly, the ‘only person’ who matters in the fashion world. Anne Hathaway reprises her usual role… Think of the Princess Diaries, and a multitude of other roles she’s done, this one’s not much different. (So it’s getting a bit boring) The plot too, is a recycled one… *yawnz* I wonder why of my friends have been singing praises of this movie, or say that it’s really hilarious.
The only thing that struck me during the movie was how some of our bosses, especially the ‘chop chop chop’ ones behave like Miranada Priestly. It’s inevitble that they get called names like ‘dragon-lady’ behind their backs, but then, I think they do have a right to behave that way. Think about it, 5 min to them could mean billions of dollars, 5 min to them could also mean a life or a limb or maybe an eye, you get the idea… For people with such huge responsibilities, it’s not wrong to demand high efficiency, and to get easily irritated by
the trivial questions of mere mortals like us.
I was super impressed by Miranda’s performance when she had to announce that her arch enemy (and long-time competitor) was taking over her position! That, is what we call strength and graciousness!
The two good things about this movie are:
1. the poster, very chic and cute…
2. the clothes! some of them are quite lovely! (hehe i like the dark bottle green v-neck sleeveless dress, yea and the black dress she wore to the French event! ooh-la-la!)
