Thought I’d be safe from calls in this SIP but I was soooo wrong… My combi MO/MOS/REG (3-in-1 snr) is superrrr onz… And kept hinting about staying for call. And so qiao my HO was on active call, so might as well lah… or else he might just make me go for his Saturday call!

Thankfully it was a FANTASTIC call! Saw many interesting acute cases and possible MBBS cases. :D Stuff like polycystic kidney disease (one of the cysts ruptured and blood tracked down the ureter, causing what was like ureteric colic, but at the same time, some must have ruptured into the peritoneum cuz there was haemoperitoneum when we went in! Quite cool eh, I only seen pus in the abdo cavity before, haven’t seen blood in it yet.) Next up, there was this ?intussuception case cuz of redcurrant stools, but turned out to be ischaemic colitis at colonoscope. Your bowel sure doesn’t look good in the various stages of ischaemia. The team went in eventually, but I wasn’t looking forward to standing precariously on a stool at 3am!

Then we had the usual acute appendicitis vs ovarian incident/UTI/GE that sort of thing… and then boom, in came a closed loop obstruction (wow, multiple distended colonic loops could be felt!) and also this iliopsoas abscess. Interesting…

So now, let’s h0pe that having given the take team an ok impression (we seemed to be at all the ‘happening’ places at the right time, sort of surprised them why we knew where all the exciting stuff was happening…), the rest of my SIP can be more ‘restful’. *touchwood*

So not looking forward to the next week. :S
Going to kena trouble from D.O. (I think), then have to start mugging for paeds (I dunno how and where to start!) and continue kena whacked by snr, need to somehow get myself some suturing action, got to teach Spanish, kiv arrange a trip thingy, and then I so need to get shoes! (My pair gave up during call u know! Can believe or not!)
