Have you ever experienced this:

After a day of swimming, when you lie in bed at night, you have a sensation of still floating.

So after a day of being in EDx (that’s the external non air conditioned area in the A&E for pts with fever), where we all have to wear masks, right now, I feel as though I’m still wearing my mask!

This is the true essence of retrospective entry, having watched this movie on the unofficial last day of my HO posting. Haha… the whole gang of us except S and T went for our first ever HO-outing followed by a sumptuous dinner at the Brazilian Churrascaria in the evening. Only poor T had to go start work at the west-end hospital. Haha…

Ok, ‘Iron Man’ is one in a league of many action movies derived from comics… Such as Fantastic 4… It was quite entertaining and I really enjoyed seeing all those high end gadgets and that scruffy lonely soul of Tony Stark (I think this surname is especially cool) played by Robert Downey Jr. Also think the name Pepper Potts is really cute and why on earth is Gwyneth Paltrow so skinny?! It’s a bit scary actually.

I wish I had one of those suits. It’s like my childhood dream to fly fly fly freeee… Have always had such dreams of free flight. *dreamy look*

Synopsis
Tony Stark is a child prodigy who’s the leading man in an industry of weapons made to protect America from all threats. While en route to an award ceremony, he’s kidnapped by a group of erm terrorists and then forced to help them create his new range of missiles. Instead he uses all those spare parts and such and makes a robot out of himself.

Later when he returns, Start decides that for all he knows, his weapons were being used to wage war against peace and decided to clamp down on weapons sales. He invests all his effort into perfecting the ‘Iron Man’. His dad’s good friend is actually secretly selling their weapons to those terrorists, and all this culminates into a war between two robots basically…

There’s loads of action, comedy with a bare sprinkling of romance…

I think my entire biological clock has gone awry, though I still feel quite happy.

I’m now staying up really late almost every night, forcing myself to take naps in the afternoon or evenings (which I usually NEVER do) and taking really irregular meals (which is so not good).

On top of that, I have somatic symptoms of anxiety such as loose stools, stomach cramps, especially when I know I’m resus 1 / 2 that day! And on the contrary, my blog’s suffering from severe constipation.

Haha and I dunno why sometimes when I’m not supposed to be in resus, someone sneakily writes a 1 or 2 next to my name with that tiny fatal circle. Haiz…

Still, I’ve never had such an exciting posting ever!

The patients are so fresh! Like today, I saw yet anothe perf…. and did a positive Buerger’s test! acute manz! It was just unbelievably FRESH! ya but i think i waste too much time getting all the salient points of hx and doing all those bedside tests that it’s so not ED. Sigh.

In fact the snr asked: What’s buerger’s test?

Was too busy finishing off my HO year with a big bang, what with EOD and EEODs… I’d totally gone numb from doing calls. And now, I AM numb from calls or the post-call like feeling. Have finally started my long awaited posting (but not with loads of trepidation) at the A&E and gasp! I feel post call almost every-other-day!

It’s a very different sort of feeling, being an MO. Apart from the mountain of responsibilities that you’re suddenly expected to bear, somehow you’re expected to know how to do lumps and bumps, to make decisions, to take ownership… I guess I’m just super lacking in confidence in my own judgment. (which really, I’m not the best person to make decisions) I think it’s helping that I’m in A&E so we all like take charge of our own patients, and got to have a clear management plan before clearing the case with seniors.

It’s still too early to comment about my new job scope, cuz I haven’t got rostered into resus yet. *Heavens, just thinking of it makes my knees go weak!* (haha…) Not like drool who’s almost ‘lao jiao’, every other minute I hear the PA system go: Dr XXXXXX Dr XXXXXX to resus now!

What I like about A&E so far is that the cases are almost entirely FRESH! I’m the first to see and clerk them! It’s a good revision of medical school and a good way to test my clinical acumen!

My first day as an MO tomorrow!!!
