I have never done a Saturday day shift so far. Today was my first, and I was greeted with what I would call - - - the polyclinic phenomenon. I’m not sure how well substantiated this kind of scenario is but it sure smelt fishy…

Two, I cannot take the ambulance. I get ‘ambulance-sick’.
Actually I had so much stuff to blog about today… The ED simply EXPLODED within and beyond! Did we hit 500 patients today? Or more? Everyone on afternoon/evening shifts was recalled earlier, all the computer stations were occupied by people frantically typing at 120wpm rate. I think after all that furious typing, now a bit too tired to type anymore… In fact at some point, I would be typing while looking at my patients…
I would love to start a ‘trials and tribulations of an ED MO’ series, but might be a bit difficult because of all the patient confidentiality.
Anyway today was a trying day. So busy… and kena stuck in resus from the time I got there till afternoon… -_- and a row of THREE of the same diagnosis, leading to a queue outside a certain lab… Shortage of computers and cubicles to examine people, leading to doing PR under the blanket… -_- Got sort of scolded by a senior and then run to ground by Prof… Waaa so scary….
Ok but I like ED ok… THROW ME ANYTHING!!! I’m game for it….
Ok gotta rest my eyes, don’t feel like writing too much after typing out so many patient records today. :S

Women come to New York City for two reasons - labels and love. Having gotten the knack for labels earlier, I concentrated on love. - something that Carrie muses upon at one point of the film. I kinda like this quote a lot :D
Anyway, labels and love. Hehe I think I’m becoming increasingly materialistic these days. But those labels are really lovely :D Or maybe it just reflects this horrible empty chasm of my life (I’m still figuring out what I wanna do). Anyway, I think I can do without, or maybe just one or two. Heh.
Back to the movie…
I loved the part where Carrie poses for a bridal special for Vogue. (ooooh lovely gowns) But I already knew that BIG WAS GOING TO CHICKEN OUT AT THE WEDDING!!! haha… But then all the gals kinda chip in and really are there for her… It’s really what friends are for… to offer you chocolate chip ice cream when you are down :D
I think for friends who have reached a certain level of trust, they grow and blossom in their own niche; they may not meet or even speak with each other for weeks, months or maybe even years at a time but when one or the other needs support, the person actually puts aside everything for the other. And when they meet even having spent ages apart, the years of not seeing each other are like days of being apart.

In this sequel to the well-loved (BUT BANNED SERIES IN SG), Charlotte finally gets the baby she has dreamed of!!! So happy for her :)
Sam, whom we know has NEVER been able to keep to one partner, actually keeps to that strapping blonde model for FIVE YEARS! And actually gained 15 pounds trying to stay faithful… It’s really awfully sweet… but in the end she still feels that she loves herself more, and asks to end the relationship. I think I need to learn to love myself more…
Miranda… okay, I think I’m probably most like her in terms of character, all so uptight, tense and quite judgmental. She mainly faces problems with managing marriage, work, Brady and the grown up form of Brady (to me, Steve is like this child).
‘Sex and the City’ is a drama that was significant for me, it kind of helped me through some difficult times, and served to remind me how important one’s friends are.
‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ - directed by Steven Spielberg

I remembered how the film ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ used to give me the shivers cuz of a particular scene that appealed to my sense of the macabre. (Shall not tell you all my deep dark secrets. heh.) Anyway, the Indiana Jones movies were always synonymous to 2 hours of fun, adventure and non-stop excitement for me; and I ALWAYS watch them more than once!
Anyway this installment was quite different, given that the first few films were all in the 1980’s, some even before I was born!
This one, apart from the usual historical / legendary treasures also combined the terrorist factor plus the ‘alien’ factor. Haha… But it also had a nice touch, bringing back Jones’ loved one in his younger days… and… *spoilers ahead* who has a son by Jones… and eventually the happy family is reunited! Woohoo…
Review of ‘Sex and the City’ next! If I don’t get too tired out at work. Omg it was soooo exhausting these past 2 days…
Night shift starting in another hour or so… Hehe… I really like night shift… It’s so much quieter… and fewer people around too! Anyway it’s been about 6 weeks into the posting already, the so-called deadline for me to ‘grow up’ has reached! I think I’m still falling short of what’s expected. Sigh.
Oh and yesterday was the first time I ever experienced that particular form of harrassment. Told a few people about it, most of their reaction was one of anger and wanting to call security… but I felt more disgust and pity for that fella and of course, irritated with this kind of insult. I’m a professional and how dare you even think of doing this kind of thing during a consult! My lovely ex SIP now all-time-suffering neuro HO suggested ‘SNIP SNIP’ haha…
Meeting kok for SATC this Sunday! woohoo! Some people say the movie’s a bit long but oh well, we’ll see. I’m probably just going to get irritated with Carrie Bradshaw.
Am spending far too much time watching this Korean show. Blasted DVD shop auntie bluffed me… Told me there were only 8 DVDs when there’s actually SIXTEEN!!! My eyeballs are going to burn up.
Have also finished doing up my photo album for Japan trip :) Maybe I should finally complete the descriptive entires for my Perth one. Haha…
Oh I’ve had THREE shopping sprees ever since May! The first was at Vivocity - 2 pairs of tights from Nichii Fashion City, a top from Reds, a top/dress from LVER and a skirt from Mango. The second was at Bega - a white top, a polka dot top, a 3/4 olive pants, then later at ESPIRIT - a dress; the 3rd was today at CCK - a grey A-line skirt, a 3/4 white pants, a green/black top, a white blouse and a blouse with really nice prints… and tomorrow I’m going to try out some stuff I saw at BYSI today, they’ve a 30% discount for all clothes if you trade in your old ones.. in-hand with a charity programme! I can’t wait for tonight’s shift to be overrrrrr!

It’s all a tad too late because Hannah returns with a strapping perfect Scottish Colin (Kevin McKidd) in tow, planning for a wedding. Thomas is then forced to compete for his lady love in a series of misadventures in the midst of the beautiful scenery… (Is that really Scotland?)
