It started off with an sms ending with those four numbers that I used to dread in my previous posting because those sms-es invariably contained a reminder to attend compulsory teachings or erm to come sign my ED cards or to return my baju (which I still have!).
For once like I smsed J back, it was a party invitation! Haha… could not resist teasing J about it.
True to what was previously described to us, the place was chockful of food and people. They really brought in an entire ice cream er box dunno what you call that. Saw a fondue fountain and mountains of people and little kids. Everywhere was festively decorated with balloons and ribbons and all our very chio nurses were wearing their sarong kebayas.
The usual meeting room where the nurses hold lots of training sessions was replaced by a karaoke group, our seminar room was lined with food (actually it was so crowded I couldn’t get into the room), and the pantry had more than it’s usual amount of food (the sad OT trolley forgotten and hidden at one corner). Auntie Tan was chopping up ginger flowers to make rojak and as usual kept ladling food for all of us. She really never rests…
Thank goodness for the prestige of being an ‘ex-MO’, haha Dr T. said I could get first dips of the food in the pantry before it’s ‘exported’ and devoured outside. :D There were some particularly yummy chocolate bits. I don’t know what they were but I’m sure the chocolate was very very authentic! Boss was sporting a new hairstyle and colour and looking very brown indeed. :) Dr T. was very sunny-looking in yellow, my supervisor was still sporting post bridal radiance and BL was still thinking aloud. Hehe… Hmmm the rest looked as they did, and for the first time I got to see our leave monster’s cute kids! heehee… S. appeared too though she was on ’standby’. Haha the night before I was joking that maybe she’ll get recalled back for party, turns out she really was! But because someone was on MC. Oops.
Our department has really good sound proofing mechanisms because by the time I’d walked into the corridor along the XR room, I couldn’t hear all the karaoke anymore! Wahaha… All those poor patients starving in the obs room cuz we might have forgotten to feed them? ‘Will be good for their glycaemic control!’ - someone said.
Work was quite light that day, it was quite quiet in the consult rooms and maybe only like 10 fast track cards there! At least the public got the decency to let us enjoy our annual party! Haha…
